Scientific area is focused on the most important aspects of bioinorganic chemistry, mainly:

  • structure and function of biomolecules and their interaction with metal ions

  • thermodynamic, structure and biological properties of the systems containing metal ions

  • the effect of metal ions on the chemistry and biochemistry of drugs

  • electrochemistry of bioinorganic systems

  • bioinorganic chemistry of toxic metals (e.g. Ni, Cd, Cr, Al)

  • mechanisms of neurodegeneration

  • metal homeostasis in bacteria

  • the role of poly-histidine sequences in metal ion binding
